Integrative Health & Wellness Coaching

People typically come to health & wellness coaching for help with behavioral change in support of their health and well-being - whether it’s to change old behaviors or to create new ones. We can all get stuck in patterns of behavior that don’t serve our highest good. Neuroscience has shown that once our habits become wired in the brain as patterns, they can be very difficult to change. It can be helpful to have an ally in the behavioral change process and that’s where wellness coaches come in.

A Client-Centered Approach

The client is the expert of their life and has the wisdom and answers to many of their situations and questions within themselves. Coaches don’t prescribe or offer solutions rather they LISTEN to the client and ask powerful questions to evoke the wisdom within them. This is an empowering process that can lead to realistic solutions and lasting change. If requested, a coach is happy to share resources that can assist the client. The coach will also clarify the strengths and values of the client and integrate them into the coaching process. Most importantly, the client crafts a vision of their life that becomes the “north star” of the coaching sessions.

An Integrative Approach

The coaching process takes an integrative approach to well-being, acknowledging the whole person - mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual, the interdependence of these aspects and their impact on overall well-being. A client can come to coaching with a focus for the sessions or time can be spent assessing each of the domains of wellness to determine a direction.

A Relational Approach

The coach and client create a partnership based on trust, confidentiality, respect, accountability, and possibility. We’ll spend time exploring what is most important to you. Together, we identify obstacles and create strategies for moving toward your vision. As your coach, I come to the sessions with honesty, integrity, nonjudgement, and the belief that you have the potential to actualize your vision.

Who May Benefit?

According to the CDC, it is behavior change that is needed to prevent and reverse chronic disease. Health coaching has been shown to offer positive benefits for people experiencing chronic illness.

People who can benefit from health and wellness coaching are those facing a health challenge, anyone feeling stuck or having difficulty moving forward, anyone experiencing fatigue, chronic stress, or burnout, or anyone who simply wants to improve their health behaviors.
